I think, what gave away the Cain and Abel reference in the dialogue between Adam and Caleb was this line from Caleb to Adam, "How do I know? Am I supposed to look after him?" just as Cain had replied to God's rhetorical question, "I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?"
